Linus Kuhlmann is part of the Energy Management and Drivetrains Team at the Institute for Automotive Engineering (ika) at RWTH Aachen University. Specializing in the thermal management of traction battery systems he is pursuing insights into the challenges and opportunities when implementing novel battery technologies and system topologies.
The Pop in Your Job:
I have been interested in contributing to green technologies, reducing the impact of humans on the planet since my early days at school. My work at ika of RWTH Aachen University combines this goal with the fascination for motorized vehicles passed down to me by my farther. The freedom to think along unconventional paths provided by the research landscape, whilst always being directly connected to the application in a dominant technology of our age pulls me forward. Traction batteries provide a great deal of possible technologies and configurations in the future. Together with the significant storage capacity added to our energy system by the rising number of BEV, the need for proper and efficient thermal management becomes apparent.
